Freight Broker/Inside Sales Representative

Role Description:

You will work directly with our contacts in the Department of Defense to coordinate sales. Your day will consist of analyzing market information and coordinating our shipments with the DoD and our carrier partners. To succeed in this role you should be excited about the prospect of working with a wide array of individuals and learning about the intricacies of freight movement. You should be invigorated by the prospect of no-cap earnings and the potential to become rapidly successful..

At IKON you will undergo a training process to learn about freight and the type of sales we conduct. You will then learn about the methods of shipment and how to best coordinate these methods with our carriers and contacts.

You will NOT be responsible for providing your own clients or bringing in clients on your own.

Responsibilities:

• Develop rates for shipments to and from different military institutions
• Work with freight carriers to cover shipments
• Negotiate pricing with carriers to create the highest net earning
• Coordinate freight shipments with Department of Defense Institutions
• Discover the proper freight to transport and how to secure the loads
• Employ your knowledge to determine the proper amount to spend on shipments to create a profit
• Collaborate with team members to fully develop a knowledge of the industry

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent work experience
• Superior communication skills: including listening, verbal, and written
• Strong negotiation skills with an assertive and competitive demeanor
• Organization Skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
